A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the area of transportation systems optimization at the Lab for Innovative Mobility Systems (LIMOS), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (https://limos.engin.umich.edu/). The appointee will be involved in research projects on ridesharing optimization and/or traffic signal control. Duties include conducting original research, documenting and disseminating research findings, and project management. The appointee will also be involved in teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate research assistants. The appointment is for one year, with a possibility for renewal. The position is open immediately and salary will be based on qualification and experience.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in transportation engineering, operations research, or other related fields, be fluent in English, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work independently. Those with the following skills are preferred: 1) large-scale nonlinear optimization; 2) distributed optimization or control; 3) machine learning; 4) strong programming skills.
