A post­doc­tor­al fel­low posi­tion is avail­able in the area of trans­porta­tion sys­tems opti­miza­tion at the Lab for Inno­v­a­tive Mobil­i­ty Sys­tems (LIMOS), Depart­ment of Civ­il and Envi­ron­men­tal Engi­neer­ing, Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan, Ann Arbor (https://limos.engin.umich.edu/). The appointee will be involved in research projects on rideshar­ing opti­miza­tion and/or traf­fic sig­nal con­trol. Duties include con­duct­ing orig­i­nal research, doc­u­ment­ing and dis­sem­i­nat­ing research find­ings, and project man­age­ment. The appointee will also be involved in teach­ing and men­tor­ing grad­u­ate and under­grad­u­ate research assis­tants. The appoint­ment is for one year, with a pos­si­bil­i­ty for renew­al. The posi­tion is open imme­di­ate­ly and salary will be based on qual­i­fi­ca­tion and experience.

Can­di­dates should have a Ph.D. in trans­porta­tion engi­neer­ing, oper­a­tions research, or oth­er relat­ed fields, be flu­ent in Eng­lish, have excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, and be able to work inde­pen­dent­ly. Those with the fol­low­ing skills are pre­ferred: 1) large-scale non­lin­ear opti­miza­tion; 2) dis­trib­uted opti­miza­tion or con­trol; 3) machine learn­ing; 4) strong pro­gram­ming skills.
